Coming This Fall: RCIA & Adult Confirmation
Slightly delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, our faith formation for adults who want to become Catholic or to make confirmation will begin in October…
RCIA Coming This Fall
In usual times, our Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults session would be ready to begin in early September.
Alas, these are not usual times, courtesy of a national health pandemic.
However, we will indeed hold our RCIA sessions and faith formation for any adults who would like to become a Catholic or want to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation with some adjustments.
Our question-and-answer inquiry session now is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in the John Bosco Center. Anyone who is thinking about becoming Catholic, is baptized as a Catholic or another Christian tradition and wants to make confirmation, would like to return to the Church, or has questions about any of those things is encouraged to join us. This is an informal session and no one will be asked to do or commit to anything.
RCIA is formation process for non-baptized adults who want to come into the Catholic Church. Those initiation sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion are celebrated at the Easter Vigil Mass (April 3, 2021), assuming the Church is able to resume a normal Mass schedule.
Baptized adults preparing for Confirmation only may choose from several dates, depending on their readiness, including the second Sundays of Advent and Lent, along with the Easter Vigil Mass and when Bishop Gregory Parkes comes to our parish for confirmations later in the spring.
So if you, or anyone you know, is interested in becoming Catholic, making confirmation or simply learning more about it, please join us on Oct. 5. If you cannot attend at that time, want more information or would like to meet individually, please contact Deacon Steven Girardi in the parish office at (727) 726-8477, ext. 310, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
AND, WHILE WE’RE WAITING …
We are pleased to announce that the women, men and young people in RCIA group that began in September 2019 will be initiated into the Roman Catholic Church at the 10 a.m. Mass, Sept. 13, in Padua Hall.
These 10 people were schedule to receive their sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion at the great Easter Vigil Mass before the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to postpone the rite. So, extra-well prepared and tested, they will join us in full communion with the Church at this special mass occasion with Father Len, our pastor, who will preside and administer the initiation sacraments.
Please join us as we welcome these new Catholics into the Church and or parish community at Espiritu Santo.
