Sister Donna & Sister Renetta Mission Trip
Mission Trip from October 4-11
Sister Donna Daniels and Sister Renetta Graff assisted Sister Joyce Bates and Sister Roseanna Mellert, also Sisters of Notre Dame at LaFrontera, a Catholic Charities shelter ministry in Laredo, TX.
The Province of the Sisters of Notre Dame of the United States of America approved establishing a ministry at the border. Sisters Joyce and Roseanna arrived in Laredo in September 2022 and currently reside in a former rectory that the Diocese made available to them. There they offer hospitality (at no charge) for Sisters, Associates of the Sisters of Notre Dame and friends who may want to help in this ministry. In a short 14 months several Sisters and Associates have served there.
Sister Donna and Renetta shared this reflection. “The experience ministering to these people of God is profound and will remain in our hearts and minds forever. To meet them is to see resiliency after a painful and hard journey; peace during their brief stay; hope for their next journey. They are focused, looking forward to a better life, especially for the children. They show gratitude for the food, shelter, showers and clothing they receive at LaFrontera. While we were there, we served over 200 a day at lunch and dinner.”
If you would like to know more about this ministry or would like to contribute in some way, please call either Sr. Donna (727-212-5565) or Sr. Renetta (727-282-9638). They would be happy to share their experience with you.
